Types of wool
Different kinds of wool, its role and insulation ability is also very different.
In terms of origin, wool is divided into Australian wool, European wool, South American wool and domestic wool. Among them, Australia's geography and climate environment are unique, and the curl degree and fiber length of the wool produced are overall superior to those of other regions, and the thermal performance is also better.
From the fiber fine length point of view, there are fine wool, semi-fine wool, long wool, hybrid wool, coarse wool, etc., fine wool refers to the average diameter of the fiber in 19.1 ~ 25.0 microns of homogeneous wool, semi-fine wool average diameter in 25.1 ~ 55.0 microns.
Among them, fine wool with fineness of 28~32 microns is the most suitable for wool quilt, which has good thermal performance but will not easily cause running problems due to excessive fiber.
From the point of view of fiber texture, there are homogeneous hair and heterogeneous hair. Homogeneous wool is of good quality, composed of the same wool fiber, fiber length and linear density are basically the same, and the thermal insulation effect is particularly excellent; Heterogeneous wool is composed of different fiber types, uneven thickness, rigid and soft differences, and poor comfort experience.
Characteristics of wool quilt
1. Fluffy and soft
The experimental results of the "Textile Journal" paper show that the same 1 cubic centimeter of fiber material, the volume of wool after unfolding can reach 101 cubic centimeters, which is 1.3 times that of cotton (77 cubic centimeters). Natural superior elasticity, so that the wool quilt can be naturally restored to more than 90% of the original thickness after pressure, so as to maintain fluffy and soft.
2. Keep warm at constant temperature
The optimal sleep temperature on the surface of the human body is 33℃, and wool fiber mainly contains keratin protein, which is the same as the protein that plays a protective role in the appearance of human skin, so cashmere quilt has a natural skin-friendly property, which can keep the bed close to the sleep temperature of the human body, warm but not hot, and create a more comfortable space for deep sleep.
3. Close and comfortable
1 cubic centimeter of wool weight is only 1.32g, cotton is 1.54g, the same volume, wool is 17% lighter than cotton, warm but will not cause a burden to the body, and will not be too light and the quilt is not close to the problem. (Data from the "Textile Journal" paper)
4. Soak up moisture
Wool has the reputation of "breathing natural fiber", which can absorb more than 30% of its own weight of water, and use its own unique molecular structure to quickly discharge excess water, so that the bed is dry, wool fiber is not easy to harden, and the service life is longer.
5. Antibacterial and dustproof
Wool moisture absorption is strong, so it will not produce static electricity due to dry air, dust and dirt are not easy to adhere, the growth environment of bacteria and mites is limited, it is not easy to breed and reproduce, and it is particularly friendly to children and the elderly who are weak in body immunity and resistance.
